What Your Software Stack Really Costs
Add up the PM platform, accounting, Bluebeam, takeoff, DocuSign, field, safety, time, and photo apps and a small GC runs roughly $12,000–$23,000 a year; a mid-size GC, roughly $82,000–$120,000 across some fourteen subscriptions. One system absorbs the list.

Most contractors have never added it up. The project-management platform. The accounting package. Bluebeam seats for the plans. A takeoff tool. DocuSign. A field app. A safety app. Time tracking. Photo documentation. A CRM. Chat. Each one felt reasonable when it was bought. Together, they're a second overhead line.
We did the math, from vendors' own published pricing where it exists and credible reported figures where it doesn't – labeled as such, because some of these vendors never publish a number.
A small GC – call it $3–15M in revenue, eight office seats, ten crew on time clocks – typically runs about nine subscriptions: JobTread or Buildertrend, QuickBooks, a couple of Bluebeam seats, DocuSign, a field app like Fieldwire, a safety app, time tracking, and photo documentation. Added up at published rates, that stack lands between roughly $12,000 and $23,000 a year.
A mid-size GC is in another league entirely. Procore's reported range for a smaller commercial GC runs $15,000–$30,000 a year before the reported $50,000–$150,000+ first-year implementation. Put Sage 100 Contractor beside it, BuildingConnected for bids, STACK or Togal for takeoff, Fieldwire for the field, DocuSign, SafetyCulture, ExakTime, CompanyCam, a CRM, Slack, and Levelset for lien notices, and the annual run rate lands between roughly $82,000 and $120,000 – across some fourteen subscriptions, fourteen renewal dates, fourteen support lines, and fourteen places your data lives.
And the dollars are only half the bill. Every app boundary is re-keyed data, another login your people avoid, another integration that breaks on an update, another silo where the truth forks. You pay for the stack twice: once by subscription, once in the margin that drips from the seams.
SCPM Project provides the whole catalog in one system: project management, the full accounting engine better than QuickBooks or Sage, a Revu-class plan viewer with AI-automated takeoff, ITBs and bid leveling, SCPM Sign e-signature with no envelope caps, the native field suite, the complete safety program, CPM scheduling, time tracking, photos, CRM, chat, and the service work-order engine. One subscription, one database, one place to look.
We're honest about the edges: SCPM Project deliberately doesn't replace many items. Though SCPM Project can handle your payroll, if you prefer ADP or another payroll entity, we can export to it. You may prefer using your CPA's tax software; again, we can export to it. CAD authoring: you design in AutoCAD or Revit; we read the files. Commercial labor and material cost databases – it connects to them. Everything else on that list, it absorbs.
