Twenty-Five Years

September 11, 2026 marks twenty-five years since the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. A remembrance, from an industry that answered.

Twenty-five years ago this morning, 2,977 people went to work, boarded planes, or answered a call for help, and did not come home. Today we remember them – the office workers and the flight crews, the firefighters and police officers who climbed the stairs while everyone else came down, and the ordinary people on four flights and in three cities who showed extraordinary courage.

Our industry carries a particular memory of that day and the months that followed. When the towers fell, construction workers ran toward the pile. Ironworkers cut steel at Ground Zero around the clock. Operating engineers, laborers, teamsters, and building tradespeople of every kind worked the recovery beside the firefighters and police – many of them at real cost to their own health in the years since. And when the recovery ended, the same industry did what it has always done: it rebuilt. The skyline that stands in lower Manhattan today was raised by the hands of people who refused to let the story end at the fall.

On jobsites across the country this morning, work will pause for a moment of silence. We hope yours is one of them.

We remember the fallen. We honor the responders and the tradespeople who answered. And we hold their families in our prayers, twenty-five years on and every year after.

Structure defeats chaos.

If margin is leaking through the gaps in your operation, a direct conversation is where it starts.
