We Walked the SEBC Floor – and One Question Kept Coming Up

A recap of our time at the Southeast Building Conference – the interest in SCPM Project, the one question every contractor asked about importing history from JobTread and Buildertrend, and a 20% show special through August 3.

By Ed Warmoth, Founder of Conquest Consultants

We spent this year's Southeast Building Conference doing the thing I like most: standing in the aisles talking to general contractors about how they actually run their jobs. No booth, no pitch theater – just conversations. And there were a lot of them. Thank you to everyone who stopped, asked hard questions, and pushed us on the details. It was, honestly, a great two days.

The interest was real

We came to listen, and what we heard was encouraging. Contractor after contractor recognized the problem SCPM Project is built to solve – the margin that leaks in the seams between estimating, the field, and accounting – because they live it every week. The idea of running the whole business on one framework, scored for discipline at every step, landed with people who have spent years stitching together three or four systems and a pile of spreadsheets. That resonance is the best signal we could have asked for.

The question we heard most

One concern came up more than any other, and it is a fair one: "We have a lot of history in JobTread" – or Buildertrend, or other construction-management systems – "can I bring it with me?" Nobody wants to walk away from their jobs, contacts, and cost history and start from an empty screen. For most firms, that pain of switching is the single biggest thing standing between them and our better system.

The real barrier to switching isn't the new software. It's the fear of leaving your history behind.

Good news: yes, it comes with you

So here is the clear answer, and it is worth repeating. The history you have built up in JobTread, Buildertrend, and similar systems is mostly transferable directly into SCPM Project. The bulk of what those platforms hold – your jobs, your contacts, your books and your cost history – moves over, so you are not rebuilding your business from scratch. And for the small amount that doesn't come across automatically, if you want it, it can be brought in by hand via our white-glove service. In one day, we can have your new system set up and your Project Managers will not miss a beat.

  • Mostly transferable: the core of your existing records – jobs, contacts, and cost history – carries over into SCPM Project.
  • Manual where it matters: the small remainder that doesn't transfer automatically can be imported by hand if you want to keep it.
  • No blank slate: you start in SCPM Project with your history in place, not an empty system.

Come see it for yourself – Show Special for all

If we talked at SEBC, thank you – it was a pleasure. If we didn't, the invitation stands, and we want to offer to everyone, whether you were able to attend the SEBC or not, our show special. SCPM Project is available through August 3, at 11:59 Pacific Time for 20% off. Use the promo codes SEBCA for annual subscriptions, and SEBCM for monthly subscriptions. The monthly special covers three months at 20% off the regular price. The annual special covers the first year. Start a free trial and see your own way of working inside SCPM Project, or reach out and we will walk you through what moving your history actually looks like for your firm. The switch is a lot smaller than it feels from the outside.

Structure defeats chaos.

If margin is leaking through the gaps in your operation, a direct conversation is where it starts.
