Reason Why #7: You Paid a Sub Whose Insurance Expired Last Month
Expired certificates are easy to miss and expensive to discover. SCPM Project tracks every sub's insurance, performance, and compliance in one record, and compliance holds stop the payment before it goes out.

It happens at good firms. A subcontractor's general liability certificate expires. Nobody notices, because the certificate lives in a folder and the payment runs through accounting. The check goes out. Then there's an incident on site, and the question every GC dreads comes up: were they covered?
The seventh reason contractors move to SCPM Project: subcontractor compliance is enforced, not just filed.
One record per sub
In SCPM Project, every subcontractor and vendor has one record: trade, contacts, insurance status, and performance. The directory shows at the top how many certificates are expired and how many expire in the next 30, 60, and 90 days. Each row carries a clear flag – current, expiring, or expired – so the problem is visible before it's urgent.
Performance lives on the same record. Field teams rate subs as the work happens, and the ratings build a history. When it's time to invite bids on the next job, the estimator isn't relying on who they remember. They can see who shows up, who does it right, and who has current paper.
A hold that actually holds
Visibility is only half of it. In SCPM Project, sub compliance is connected to payables. When a sub is out of compliance, a compliance hold stops their payment from going out until the paperwork is current. The system enforces the rule at the moment it matters, instead of relying on someone to check a spreadsheet.
It's also part of the SCPM Health Score. Subcontractor insurance currency is one of the signals on every project, so a job with a lapsed sub doesn't look healthy just because the budget is on track.
Why it matters
An uninsured sub on your site is your exposure. An uninsured sub you just paid has also lost their biggest reason to fix the certificate quickly. Holding the payment is the simplest, most effective way to get compliance back, and it costs far less than finding out after an incident.
Compliance you have to remember to check is compliance you'll eventually miss.
